Key Design Features of  Forced Draft Cross Flow Cooling Tower

1. Fan Placement & Type:

  • Location: At tower sides/bottom, at air entrance points
  • Type: Typically centrifugal fans (handle static pressure better)
  • Orientation: Blowing inward horizontally

2. Air Flow Pattern:

  • Positive pressure inside tower (opposite of induced draft)
  • Air enters with higher velocity
  • Less uniform distribution potential

3. Plenum Chamber:

  • Space between fan discharge and fill media
  • Designed to distribute air evenly
  • Critical for performance
