Induced Draft Closed Circuit Cooling Tower
- Design: The fan is located at the top of the unit, pulling air vertically upward through the coil/fill section and exhausting it at high velocity.
- Characteristics:
- More uniform air distribution across the coil.
- Better plume abatement (due to high-velocity, turbulent discharge).
- Fan motor is exposed to the hot, moist exhaust stream.
- Classic “cooling tower” appearance.
- Common Configurations:
- Counterflow: Air flows vertically up, while spray water flows down. This is the most common and efficient induced draft design.
- Crossflow: Air flows horizontally in, while spray water flows down. Often has a lower pump head requirement.
