The Unique Advantage: Operational Flexibility
The “closed loop” design provides modes of operation that open towers cannot offer:
- Free Cooling: During winter, the tower can cool the process fluid directly with cold outside air. This allows the energy-intensive chillers to be turned off, saving a significant amount of electricity.
- Dry Operation: The tower can run without the spray water system, which saves water and treatment chemicals, and helps prevent ice formation and visible plume in cold weather
