Cooling Range in a Cooling Tower
Simple Definition
The Cooling Range (also called Temperature Range or simply Range) is the temperature difference between the hot water entering the cooling tower and the cold water leaving it.
It is expressed as:
Cooling Range=Thot in−Tcold outCooling Range=Thot in−Tcold out
Where:
- Thot inThot in = Temperature of hot water entering the tower (from the process/condenser)
- Tcold outTcold out = Temperature of cooled water leaving the tower (returned to the process)
Unit: Typically measured in °C or °F.
