Types of Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger
- Forced Draft:
- The fan is located on the bottom side, pushing air across the tube bundle.
- The tube bundle is easier to access for maintenance.
- The fan handles colder, denser air, which can require more power.
- The fan is exposed to the clean, ambient air, reducing corrosion.
- Induced Draft:
- The fan is located on the top side, pulling air across the tube bundle.
- This provides more even air distribution over the bundle, which can improve heat transfer efficiency.
- The fan handles warmer, discharged air, which is less dense and can reduce power consumption.
- The fan and motor are exposed to the hot, and potentially corrosive, effluent air, which can be harsher on the equipment.
