Advantages of Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers in Gensets

  • Simplicity and Reliability: Fewer components than a radiator-based liquid cooling system (no need for a separate remote radiator or cooling tower). Less to go wrong.
  • No Water Dependency: This is the biggest advantage. It eliminates the need for a continuous external water source, making it ideal for:
    • Arid and remote locations.
    • Standby power applications where the system must start instantly without any external connections.
    • Mobile applications (e.g., on trailers, skids).
  • Freeze Protection: The closed-loop coolant system uses an antifreeze mixture, providing inherent protection in cold climates without the risk of a remote water line freezing.
  • Lower Maintenance: No concerns with water treatment, scaling, algae, or corrosion from external water sources. Maintenance is typically limited to keeping the core clean and checking fan belts.
  • Easier Installation: The cooling system is self-contained within the Genset enclosure, simplifying installation.
