Welded Fins

  • Manufacturing: Fins (usually steel or other weldable metals) are welded to the base tube. This can be done by:
    • Continuous Helical Welding: A fin strip is continuously welded along its base as it is wound.
    • Individual Fin Welding: Square or rectangular fins are individually welded onto the tube.
  • Bond: Metallurgical bond, the strongest possible.
  • Advantages:
    • Extremely strong bond, suitable for very high temperatures and severe thermal cycling.
    • Excellent heat transfer due to minimal contact resistance.
    • Can be used with high-finish materials like stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
