Welded Fins
- Manufacturing: Fins (usually steel or other weldable metals) are welded to the base tube. This can be done by:
- Continuous Helical Welding: A fin strip is continuously welded along its base as it is wound.
- Individual Fin Welding: Square or rectangular fins are individually welded onto the tube.
- Bond: Metallurgical bond, the strongest possible.
- Advantages:
- Extremely strong bond, suitable for very high temperatures and severe thermal cycling.
- Excellent heat transfer due to minimal contact resistance.
- Can be used with high-finish materials like stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
