Fan less Cooling Tower

A fan less cooling tower is a type of cooling tower that does not use mechanical fans for air circulation. Instead, it relies on the natural air movement created by the temperature difference between hot water and ambient air.

It is sometimes also called a natural draft / induced air circulation tower (compact type), but it is much smaller than the large hyperbolic natural draft towers used in power plants.

Working Principle

  1. Hot water from the process is sprayed over PVC fill media using nozzles.
  1. As water flows downward, air enters naturally from the sides (louvers) due to the temperature and density difference between warm moist air (inside) and cooler ambient air (outside).
  2. A portion of the water evaporates, absorbing heat from the remaining water.
  3. Warm, moist air rises naturally and escapes from the top.
  4. The cooled water collects in the basin at the bottom and is pumped back for reuse.

 Features

  • No fan, no motor, no gearbox → low power consumption.
  • Compact design, often made of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic).
  • Operates quietly (no fan noise).
  • Easy to maintain and install.

Advantages

  • Energy-saving (no fan power required).
  • Silent operation (suitable for hospitals, hotels, offices, residential complexes).
  • Low maintenance (no fan/motor parts).
  • Corrosion-resistant materials (FRP, PVC).
