What Parts of the Tower are FRP?

In a typical “FRP package tower,” the following are made from FRP:

  • Casing: The entire outer shell and walls.
  • Cold Water Basin: The tank at the bottom that collects the cooled water.
  • Fan Cylinder (Stack): The section that directs air flow.
  • Structural Supports: Often the beams and braces are also pultruded FRP profiles.

The internal components are usually still made of other highly efficient materials:

  • Fill: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) or PP (Polypropylene)
  • Drift Eliminators: PVC
  • Nozzles: ABS or PVC
  • Fan & Mechanical Parts: Aluminum, Stainless Steel, or FRP

An FRP cooling tower is a premium, corrosion-resistant, and low-maintenance unit where the main structure is built from molded fiberglass. It is the preferred choice for applications where long life and minimal upkeep are valued over the lowest possible initial purchase price. They are almost always factory-assembled and shipped as a complete “package” to the site.
