Extruded Fins
This category creates a fin that is an integral part of the tube itself.
a) Extruded / Integral Finned Tubes
- Manufacturing: An aluminum sleeve (or “bimetal sleeve”) is placed over a base tube (typically carbon or stainless steel). The assembly is pushed through a set of discs that cold-work the aluminum, extruding it outward to form the fins while simultaneously creating a massive mechanical bond between the aluminum and the tube.
Bond: A true “metallurgical interference fit.” The aluminum is forced into the microscopic pores of the base tube, creating an excellent, permanent bond with very low contact resistance
- Advantages:
- Highly efficient heat transfer.
- Extremely durable and resistant to thermal cycling and fin vibration.
- Fins are robust and difficult to damage.
