A dry cooling tower is an excellent choice for a genset in situations where water conservation is the top priority, even if it comes with a trade-off in peak efficiency, higher initial cost, and a larger footprint. It is a robust, low-water-maintenance solution that is perfectly suited for arid environments, standby power applications, and locations where the environmental impact of water use is a major concern. For continuous operation in very hot, humid climates where the genset must run at full capacity, a wet cooling tower might be a more technically suitable, though more water-intensive, option.
