Components of cross flow Cooling Tower and Their Roles
- Distribution Basin: The open pan at the top that holds and distributes hot water evenly.
- Gravity Nozzles: Simple, non-clogging openings that rely on gravity, not pressure, to distribute water.
- Fill Media: The “heart” of the tower, made of PVC sheets or other plastics, designed to create maximum surface area for efficient cooling.
- Air Inlet Louvers: The sides of the tower are equipped with louvers to direct airflow and prevent water from splashing out.
- Fan and Drive: Located at the top, it creates the induced draft that pulls air through the tower.
- Cold Water Basin: The collection tank at the bottom for the cooled water.
