Advantages of Evaporative Condensers:
- High Efficiency: They reject heat based on the wet-bulb temperature of the air, which is much lower than the dry-bulb temperature. This allows for significantly lower condensing temperatures and pressures compared to air-cooled condensers.
- Energy Savings: Lower condensing pressure means the compressor doesn’t have to work as hard, leading to substantial energy savings (often 20-40% less compressor energy than air-cooled systems).
- Smaller Footprint: They are much more compact than an equivalent air-cooled condenser or the combination of a water-cooled condenser + a cooling tower.
- Lower Water Usage: While they use water, they consume significantly less than a system with a water-cooled condenser and a separate open cooling tower.
