Critical Components & Maintenance

A cooling tower has several vulnerable parts that require constant attention:

  • Fill Media: The plastic lattice where the water breaks into droplets. It can become clogged with algae, sediment, or scale, reducing airflow and cooling capacity.
  • Drift Eliminators: Mesh located above the fill that catches water droplets trying to escape with the air. They prevent water loss and reduce the risk of Legionella bacteria being aerosolized into the nearby environment.
  • Basin & Screens: The bottom tank collects cold water but can accumulate sludge and debris.

Fans and Gearboxes: High-maintenance rotating equipment requiring regular lubrication and belt checks.
