Working Principle of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
- One fluid (usually the hotter or more corrosive one) flows inside the tubes.
- The other fluid flows around the tubes in the shell.
- Heat is transferred from the hotter fluid to the cooler one through the tube walls.
Advantages of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
- High-pressure and high-temperature resistance
- Easy to clean and maintain (especially with removable tube bundles)
- Can handle large heat loads efficiently
- Suitable for a wide range of fluids (liquids, gases, and vapours)
