Components of Cross Flow Cooling tower

  • Distribution Basins: Open gravity-fed channels on both sides (no pressure nozzles typically).
  • Fill Media: Usually splash-type fills (bars, grids) or film fills arranged vertically.
  • Air Inlet Louvers: Large openings on tower sides to admit air uniformly.
  • Fan System:
    • Induced Draft: Fan at top draws air horizontally across fills (most common).
    • Forced Draft: Less common, with fans at air inlets.
  • Drift Eliminators: Located above fill, prevent water droplet escape.
