Hybrid (Dry/Wet or Adiabatic) – Closed Circuit Cooling Tower

  • Design: Combines a dry air-cooled finned coil section with an evaporative section.
  • Operation Modes:
    • Dry Mode (Cool Ambient): Operates like a dry cooler. Fans alone reject heat. No spray water is used, saving water and eliminating plume.
    • Adiabatic/Evaporative Mode (Hot Ambient): Pre-cooling pads or a mist pre-cools the incoming air before it hits the dry coil, dramatically improving efficiency when dry cooling is insufficient.
    • Sometimes the spray is directly on a separate wet coil circuit.
  • Advantage: Significant water savings, plume reduction, and excellent efficiency across seasonal variations. Popular in water-scarce and plume-sensitive areas.
