Double segment Baffles :

Overview:

Double segmental Baffles are flow-directing or obstructing vanes or panels used in some industrial process vessels (tanks), such as shell and tube heat exchangers, chemical reactors and static mixers. Baffles are an integral part of the shell and tube heat exchanger design. The baffle is designed to support the bundles and direct the flow of fluids for maximum efficiency. Implementation of baffles is decided on the basis of size, cost and their ability to lend support to the tube bundles and direct substance flow.

Process:

Double segmental baffles have been used in heat exchangers for many years. Such baffles provide support for the tubes at least to some degree. The double segmental plate-baffle heat exchanger is well known to those skilled in the art, and although heat exchangers using plate type baffles were a relatively early development in heat exchanger design, such exchangers are still widely used today. In most plate type baffle heat exchangers the passages in the plate baffles through which the tubes pass are slightly larger in diameter than the outside diameter of the tubes in order to facilitate construction of the exchanger, and as a result vibration of the tubes can and does occur which frequently results in premature tube failure.

Main Function:

Support the tubes for structural rigidity, preventing tube vibration and sagging. Divert the flow across the bundle to obtain a higher heat transfer coefficient Baffles are used to support tubes, enable a desirable velocity to be maintained for the shell side fluid, and prevent failure of tubes due to flow-induced vibration.

Features:

  1. Large, gas-piston assisted, loading door
  2. Inverted cone-shaped loading chamber promotes wood free-fall without ‘bridging’
  3. Loading chamber, the most vulnerable part of any wood boiler, is 10 to 20 mm thick. (3/8″ to7/8″)
  4. Ceramic honey-combed is readily accessible for easy ash removal.
  5. Robust embossed aluminium boiler jacket.
  6. Primary & secondary air preheated by passing under cyclonic combustion chamber.
  7. Secondary combustion chamber. CO and organics consumed.
  8. Primary air intake – actuator driven. Closed off when loading wood to eliminate smoke rollback
  9. Pre-heated secondary air blended with wood gas at entry to secondary combustion chamber.
  10. Flue gas temperature based thermo-difference control monitors and regulates combustion.

Applications:

  1. Construction-the building roof plate, roof grille etc.
  2. Light industry-the home appliances with its shell, civil chimneys, kitchen appliances etc.
  3. Automobile-corrosion resistant parts of car etc.
  4. Farming livestock and fishing-food storage tools; frozen processing equipment of meat and aquatic products etc.
  5. Commerce-storage and transportation of materials, packaging equipment.
