High Speed Eddy Current Inspection of Non-Ferrous Tubes

The problem

Over the period of their life, a proportion of Tubes will suffer from erosion/corrosion, flaws in the material, as the tube wall thins or dependent on the type of cooling water and chemistry.

The Solution
TIPO HEAT EXCHANGERS High speed eddy current system can detect even the smallest of defects at an average rate of up to 5 tubes per minute for a 10 metre condenser.

Our system uses compressed air to propel the eddy current probe through the tube at a rate of up to 6 meters per second. The computerized control system detects the end of the tube and automatically stops and reverses, being pulled back through the tube at a speed of up to 3 meters per second, whilst surveying the tube wall for defects and metal loss. The results are recorded using special software and are analyzed by our PCN Level 2 inspector in real time.

Permanent sealing of Leaking Tubes (Tube removal and replacement with special Dummy Tubes)

Fully automated Tube removal services for reclamation of valuable copper alloy tubing and management/sale for Client reimbursement

HIGH PRESSURE FEEDWATER HEATER RETUBE AND REFURBISHMENTa

Key activities include:

Retubing using the Foster Wheeler Internal Bore welding technique, on or off site using computer controlled orbital welding equipment
Condition assessment of baffle plate furniture and refurbishment or replacement as needed
Other tube to tubeplate fixing options offered including Explosively Welded joints or Explosive expansion
Full supply of replacement ‘U’ Tubes and tube end machining as required.
Machining and refurbishment of Tubesheets/Headers including reinstatement of “Castellation” feature for IBW.
Individual Tube pressure testing of each tube to 350 BARg+ as an alternative to Radiography (if necessary)
Option for Removal and reinstatement of heaters from site
