Remote Sump Tanks

Remote sump tanks can be added to cooling tower,  closed circuit cooling tower, or evaporative condenser systems. Remote sump tanks are often installed indoors in a heated space to prevent freezing of the recirculating water during cold weather operation.  Because the recirculating water is quickly drained from the unit when the pump is shut off, the indoor remote sump tank eliminates the need for other methods of freeze protection, such as cold water basin heaters, hot water or steam coils, or steam injectors. Remote sump tanks are also used to simplify water treatment for multiple cell installations by providing a single location for monitoring water quality.

Engineering Data

The Resold RS series is a skid-mounted, stainless steel Remote Sump Tank that includes a Cal-Val make-up water valve as well as overflow, drain and pump suction connections. The tank is constructed of heavy gauge series 304 stainless steel, welded and strengthened with strategically placed stiffeners to increase the durability and longevity of the tank. The unit also includes a pump suction screen and an internal baffle to prolong the life of the water make-up valve.

When using a Re sold Remote Sump Tank, the standard recirculation pump that is usually mounted on the Evaporative Condenser or Fluid Cooler is relocated to the Remote Sump Tank. This pump is supplied by the installing contractor. Re cold can engineer, mount and pipe the re-circulating pump if requested. Please contact your local Re cold Sales Representative.
